Describe a character that you would like to meet (which doesn’t mean that youthink you would like the character, but that you think the character would be
interesting)
If you were a character in this book, who would you be? Why?
Pages Read: 0-205
One of the main characters from the second book in the Grisha trilogy would be Alina Starkov. Throughout the story Alina shows several acts of bravery and courage. In my opinion, that is the only way to describe Alina. Another main character of the story would be Alina's childhood friend, Malyen Oretsev, otherwise know as Mal. In reality there is no way to specifically describe Mal but to say he is loyal and caring. Throughout the pages I have read I have also realize that Mal and Alina are a team and if one them is hurt so is the other. This does not mean that they gain the same injuries but if Alina is in pain emotionally, then so is Mal. Together they constantly defy their enemy and the antagonist of the story, The Darkling. The Darkling, like several other villains, is a man with serious problems. These problems mainly being his ambition to rule the world and to have all those among him begging for clemency. I believe that is enough for you to infer the fact that the Darkling is not the most sociable of people and is not what we would call an amiable person.
Throughout the story we encounter several interesting people. Some of those people being normal humans, and others, well, are not so normal and not so human. One of my favorite characters, though, must be Captain Sturmhound. The thing about Captain Sturmhound is that he is not the pirate who is described to ravage towns and to rule the seas. In truth Sturmhound is Nikolai Lantsov, prince of Ravka. To say the Ravkan prince has an interesting personality would be an understatement. In my opinion Nikolai is constantly surprising through every act in the book. Which is why I feel that if I had to meet anyone from the book it would certainly be him.
Along with meeting the Ravkan prince as I previously mentioned. I think I would also like to state the fact that if I were to choose a character to be from Siege and Storm I would choose to be the Darkling. Although this may seem odd due to him being the antagonist of the series, I feel that there is not much revealed about him. I feel that if I were to take his place in the story, gain his persona, and view things the way he does, I'd be able to understand his character much more.
Who literary character would you compare Alina Starkov with based on her bravery and courage?
