"But what science cannot understand, it dismisses." Said by Nicholas Flamel. I seem to find the strongest of truths in this quote. It might be because of my religion and faith but I feel that whatever science doesn't understand, they dismiss. On the television you hear of all these grand things that have happened to people who were sick or near death, yet they managed to survive. Everybody always seems to brush off things such as this easily. I feel that no matter who you are or whatever religion, you always seem to have hope in something or someone. It reminds of the timme I read the book The Three Musketeers and saw the movie. In the movie Aramis had said something along the lines that everybody and anybody believed in something, even those who were evil or lost. These two quotes in my opinion really connect for the reason that maybe not everything is dismissed is some "phenomena" that is caused by some freak nature accident, but they happen for a purpose.

One of the main characters in The Alchemyst is Sophie Newman. In my opinion Sophie would be that type of older sister you wish you had. She seems to be the type if person that you can easily get along with. Not only this but she seems to truly care for those around. Sophie seems to go out of her way to be brave when she shouldn't have to be. In my opinion she is a great character.

The second main character of the story is Josh Newman. In my opinion Josh seems to be "one of the guys." Besides this, Josh seems to be able to comprehend things others can't. Not only this but Josh seems to have a certain type of humor that I have not yet been able to decipher. I believe that one of my favorite attribute of Josh would probably his strong will.
