Prompt: 3 Ex. of fig lang & imagery
Throughout the story there are very little examples of figurative language and imagery. One of the very few examples would be, "The water has gone deep blue and the sky has gone ink blue." I feel that this use of imagery helps set the tone between the two characters, Justin and Rhiannon. The two boyfriend and girlfriend duo are spending their day on the beach. I feel that this helps enhance they idea of one another caring for each other.
Another rare but effective use of figurative language from the story was, "They want to touch the enormity." The main character, A, uses this to describe different religions, that are in many ways similar. I feel that the metaphor truly helps you recognize the idea of what he is speaking about. It helps you encompass the idea between what religions are like and the big thing that connects them. It gives you these several ideas and helps you develop them into a much smaller bubble that is easier to understand.
Taking in the fact that there was a severe lack of figurative language and imagery from the book. I made sure to take into consideration everyone example I did find. Without a doubt though, "But my glance right now is blank. I know what I see, but not what she'd see. The world is still glass," was my favorite for the reason that I was able to connect. A is telling about the fact that what they see from Rhiannon point of view is not all what it would seem. It helps us establish the fact that when taking control of Rhiannon's body for the day he was not able to do so completely. It compares this to the moments where we are able to see but not fully comprehend and process.
